Dr Misagh Habibi qualified from The University of Western Australia (UWA) in 1999. In 2006 he gained a Graduate Diploma degree in intravenous sedation and pain control from Sydney University. In 2013 he gained his Masters degree (MSc) in oral implantology from Goethe University in Frankfurt. He was also awarded a Fellowship and Board Certified Diplomate Status of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. As an educator, Dr Misagh has been fortunate to mentor and be a key part of the learning journey of many leading dental implant practitioners in the region.
Dr Habibi is Director of The Implant Institute (TII) and Course Lead for the Australian delivery of the Grad Cert and Grad Dip programs of the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology. He is an Academic Tutor and Clinical Supervisor of MSc (Oral Implantology) students for Goethe University Frankfurt, and as been appointed by Geothe as an Accredited Academic Clinic. Previously he has served multiple years as Honorary Clinical Consultant and Consultant Sedationist for UWA Dental School/Oral Health Centre of WA, and as an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at UWA Dental School. Misagh spent several of his earlier days providing oral surgery and sedation services to multiple clinics, before settling into his implant focused practice for the past 20 years. Misagh is Surgical Associate of the All On 4 Clinic of Australia, performing and being referred challenging full arch implant cases, especially challenging cases involving atrophic or challenging jaws.
Dr Habibi has mentored many dentists in their implant treatments, planning and execution. Misagh has performed several thousand implant procedures and administered several thousand hours of intravenous sedation to facilitate dental treatment for phobic patients, and for those with advanced treatment needs. He has experience with multiple implant systems, techniques and hard and soft tissue grafting modalities. His clinical practice is built around complex implant cases, with his main interest being full arch immediate reconstruction of terminal dentitions and compromised jaws, including conventional (tissue preservation and grafting), All-on-4/All-on-X, and atrophic jaw zygoma, pterygoid and piezo-implant solutions.
Misagh has lectured nationally and internationally for various organisations including the Australian Society of Implant Dentistry, Dental Implants Masters, "MOI" and multiple implant companies. He brings his diverse implantology experience to his teaching, sharing real life experience rich in clinical cases and illustrations. He believes in a "big picture and small details" philosophy of education which comes across in his interactive and practically oriented courses.
Misagh has been involved as a co-supervisor in multiple Master's degree clinical studies, including clinical studies based on his own extensive patient data. His own thesis in 2013 was on his protocol for immediate implant placement in sites with peri-apical infection, prior to this becoming a widely understood and applied clinical procedure. Theses he has supervised include topics such as full arch immediate hybrid milled restoration, short implants, biomechanics, guided surgery and full arch digital impression method accuracy, and biomaterial for application in implant dentistry.
In January 2020, Dr Habibi began delivering for the first time in Australia, a Postgraduate Certificate in Dental Implantology program in collaboration with the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology, allowing full time dentists to start their implant journeys with a solid theoretical, practical skills and clinical execution program, gaining an official Grad Cert (Dent Imp) or Grad Dip (Dent Imp) qualification (UK) whilst continuing to work. The program is a proven based on 11 reputable years of accreditation and delivery in the UK, which has over a thousand graduates internationally - now collaborating with Aston University to give our Grad Dip students the option of a 1 year extension research project for a Master of Science in Advanced Dental Implantology award. This Master's degree pathway is a unique opportunity for dentists in Australasia, not offered by any other organisation.

Dear colleague,
Welcome to The Implant Institute (TII)!
The TII Team and I are passionate about the challenging art and science of dental implantology. And we are passionate about sharing knowledge and skills with our colleagues in an evidence-based, but accessible and eempowering manner that is centred on real life outcomes.
I set up The Implant Institute to give "real life" dentists the opportunity to learn in an open and down-to-earth environment, at programs that are interactive and approachable and respect their intelligence, whilst also appreciating that learning comes from an applied synergy of theory, skill and application that is built step by step over time.
I believe that understanding "The Big Picture" is the best way to learn. Not jumping in too deep before understanding and building skills, but also not being overwhelmed by details into a sense of inertia. And learning from our mistakes. This is where the right mentors and programs are crucial and formative to any successful career. Most importantly, we must base our clinical decision making on a sound understanding of biology, rather than a cook-book approach.
Our students know that they won't always get a straight clinical answer out of myself or our course lecturers and tutors, but a reference back to biological principles to help the learner understand the clinical scenario in a scientific manner that leads to sound clinical decision making, because that is the basis of professional growth and making for successful treatments.
In forming The Implant Institute, I have sought the collaboration of colleagues who I feel are "real life dentists" like many of you, but are exceptional in their knowledge and drive for clinical excellence, and just as importantly, are humble and accessible enough to enjoy working with. I believe who we learn with plays just as formative a role as what we learn.

This includes our Intro Workshop Weeks, Advanced Workshop Weeks and last but not least, our exciting collaboration with the Cambridge Academy of Dental Implantology to deliver officially accredited Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma programs in Dental Implantology in Australia - filling what I see to be a real void in the Australasian dental implantology learning environment. This even provides a basis for a 1-year extension, research-based study with our partners at Aston University UK (The Guardian's University of The Year and a Russell Group University) to achieve a Master of Science in Dental Implantology - MSc (Dent Imp).
